Men's Water Polo Blasts Pacific, 15-6

LOS ANGELES - Senior driver Marko Pintaric and sophomore driver George Csaszar each scored three goals and had four points apiece to help lead the No. 1 undefeated USC men's water polo team to a 15-6 win over No. 9 Pacific in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game at the McDonald's Swim Stadium on Saturday, October 3.
The Trojans (8-0 overall, 2-0 in the MPSF) were supported by a strong defensive effort by junior back-up goalie Darin Smith, who had 11 saves on the day, including a blocked 4-meter penalty shot. The Tigers fell to 3-6, 1-2.
USC built a 9-1 lead in the first half by holding Pacific scoreless for almost 14 minutes between the first and third quarters. Pacific did not score its second goal until 5:43 of the third quarter.
The Trojans added to their lead in the second half and led 15-4 with less than two minutes left to play in the game. The Tigers added two late goals for the final margin.
USC hosts No. 6 UC Irvine on Sunday (Oct. 4) at noon at the McDonald's Swim Stadium.
