LOS ANGELES - The legend of the "Irish Killer" is secure.
Mark Cusano will long be remembered as the player that personally ignited a three-game winning streak against Notre Dame.
And from this night on, Trojan fans will recall Cusano's contributions to the three-game winning streak against the rival Irish.
At the Coliseum in 1996, Cusano batted down a last ND gasp pass in overtime. It stopped a 13-year drought against ND and triggered a massive celebration on the field. Final score 27-20.
At South Bend in '97, Mark intercepted a pass late in the fourth quarter to set up the game winning field goal. Make it two in-a-row to the tune of 20-17.
And now add to that list of Irish headaches a Cusano interception in the first quarter of this year's game. It was the first of five turnovers for a dominant Trojan defense. Cusano and company recoridng a shutout 10-0.
Now the Men of Troy await word on the fate of their bowl trip.
But for Cusano, the senior from Texas, his fate is sealed.
From now on, place the name of Mark Cusano directly behind the legendary Anthony Davis as a true "Irish Killer".
