Gillespie Goes for Win No. 500 on Tuesday

LOS ANGELES - On the 25th anniversary of Dedeaux Field, USC Coach Mike Gillespie will be seeking his 500th career win as the No. 25 Trojan baseball team hosts San Diego State on Tuesday (March 30) at 5 p.m.
Gillespie, the 1998 National Coach of the Year, has a record of 499-283-2 (.638) in 13 seasons at USC.
On March 30, 1974, the first game at Dedeaux Field was played. It turned out to be a special day, as in the first game of a doubleheader, Trojan pitcher Russ McQueen threw a no-hitter to beat California, 7-0.
Dedeaux Field is named after legendary coach Rod Dedeaux, who won 1,332 games and led USC to 11 national championships.
The Trojans are 16-16 overall in 1999 and the Aztecs are 15-17.
