One half of the greatest twin sister act in women’s college basketball history, 6-3 forward Pam McGee helped the Women of Troy capture the 1983 and 1984 NCAA titles. The 4-year (1981-84) letterwinner was an All-American in 1984, when she was a finalist for the Naismith Award. She ranked high on many USC career statistical charts, including in rebounding (1,255) and scoring (2,214). After USC, she was on the 1984 U.S. Olympic team that won a gold medal (which she gave to her twin, Paula) and then played in the WNBA with the Sacramento Monarchs and Los Angeles Sparks and professionally abroad in Spain, Italy and Brazil. She was hired as an assistant coach at Chicago State and then returned home when she became an assistant with the WNBA’s Detroit Shock (she grew up in Flint, Mich., where she guided her high school to a pair of state crowns). She is a member of the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame. In 2016, she was named to the Pac-12 All-Century Team. In 2000, she conquered breast cancer. She is the first WNBA player to have a son (JaVale) play in the NBA and a daughter (Imani) play in the WNBA. She and her son, JaVale, are the first mother and son to win Olympic gold medals.
