Following his NFL career, Williams transitioned into coaching, beginning at Brentwood School (Calif.) as the head football and basketball coach. He later became the head football coach at Van Nuys High School (Calif.). Williams then moved to Wharton High School in Tampa, Fla., where he served as the head coach. During his three successful seasons at Wharton, he led the team to a 27-8 record and three playoff appearances.
Williams’ coaching journey continued at T.R. Robinson High School in South Tampa, where he took over as head coach. In his first season, the team saw an increase in regular-season wins and secured the 2M District 6 Championship.
As a collegiate player, Williams was a star wide receiver at USC (2002-03). During his time at USC, the team went 23-3, winning the national championship in 2003. Williams was a 2003 First Team All-American, finished eighth in the Heisman Trophy voting and was a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award. In the same year, he was named the CBS Sportsline.com National Player of the Year and earned Playboy Pre-Season All-American and All-Conference First Team honors. In 2002, Williams was a Freshman All-American First Team member and the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.
He set several records at USC, including career touchdown receptions (30), single-season touchdown receptions (16 in 2003) and touchdown receptions in a game (3, which he achieved three times). He also set NCAA freshman season records for receiving yards (1,265) and touchdown catches (14), as well as the Pac-10 freshman record for catches (81). Williams led USC in receiving in both 2002 (81 catches) and 2003 (95 catches). He ranks 12th on USC’s all-time receptions list with 176 catches and had 12 games with over 100 receiving yards and 10 8-reception games during his career.
