THIS SEASON: Sarah Fansler enters her final season at USC... During the fall, was ranked No. 30 in the ITA preseason singles rankings and No. 26 with Lyndsay Kinstler in doubles... Went 3-3 in fall singles, competing in ITA All-American qualifying and at the Duals in the Desert... Went 1-2 in doubles playing with Kinstler and Alison Ramos.
2009: Fansler finished her junior year ranked No. 45 in the ITA singles rankings and at No. 63 with Lyndsay Kinstler in doubles... Received All-Pac-10 honorable mention and a spot in the NCAA Singles Championships, falling in the first round to the tournament No. 5 seed... Named Pac-10 Player of the Week on April 20 after clinching USC[apos]s win over UCLA to finish undefeated in Pac-10 play for the first time... Went 21-14 overall in singles with an 11-9 mark in dual match play, going 6-4 at No. 1, 2-5 at No. 2 and 3-0 at the No. 3 position... In doubles with Kinstler, went 13-11 overall with a 12-10 mark in dual matches, appearing at the No. 1 (1-1), No. 2 (7-7) and No. 3 (4-2) positions... Ranked No. 38 in the ITA preseason rankings... During the fall, went 6-3 in singles and 0-1 in doubles... Reached the singles quarterfinals at Riviera/ITA Pre-Qualifying and the semifinals at the ITA Regionals.
2008: Fansler went 13-16 overall in singles, going 11-11 in dual match play at the No. 2 (1-0), No. 3 (6-8) and No. 4 (4-3) positions... Played in the Round of 16 at the Pac-10 Championships... Played limited matches in the fall, going 1-3 in singles and 2-2 in doubles.
2007: Fansler became the second straight Trojan to be named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year... Also Named ITA Rookie of the Year... Opened freshman season with an 11-match singles win streak, including the ITA West Regional Singles Championship... Had the most singles wins on the team with a 32-11 overall singles mark, going 16-5 in dual match play, playing largely at the No. 2 position... Named an ITA All-American following an appearance in the NCAA Singles Tournament, selected as a 9-16 seed... Reached Pac-10 Tournament Singles quarterfinals... Finished the year ranked No. 14... Reached ITA West Regional Doubles final with Dianne Matias... In doubles, posted a 20-13 overall mark with four different partners... Went 13-9 overall with Matias, 3-1 with Anca Anastasiu, 2-1 with Lindsey Nelson and 2-2 with Julie Smekodub... Named an ITA College All-Star... Ranked No. 9 in the ITA preseason singles rankings and No. 23 with Dianne Matias in doubles... Posted a 9-3 singles record in the fall... Went 4-0 in doubles playing with partner Dianne Matias and was 6-1 overall in doubles play during the fall.
HIGH SCHOOL: Fansler was home schooled in Mission Viejo... Ranked No. 2 nationally as an 18-under and 16-under... Has been ranked in the top 5 in the nation in every division... Was ranked No. 446 internationally in 2005... Competed as an amateur in professional tournaments, including the junior level of the 2050 U.S. Open... Was ranked No. 19 on the 2005 College Recruiting List.
PERSONAL: Sarah Isabel Fansler was born on Feb. 9, 1988, in Newport Beach, Calif.... The daughter of Linda Giampaolo and Vern Fansler... Has three siblings, Caleb, Rylee and Rebecca... Her uncle Jay Johnstone was a pro baseball player... Lists her biggest sports hero as Patrick Rafter... Is majoring in public policy and development.
