THIS YEAR:
Junior Dajaz DeFrand is in her first season as a sprinter on the USC track and field team, after transferring from Florida State.

BEFORE USC:
DeFrand competed for Florida State from 2023-24 and posted personal bests of 10.94 in the 100m, 22.34 in the 200m and 7.18 indoors in the 60. DeFrand placed seventh in the 200m with a time of 22.72 (+1.0) and 12th in the 100m with a time of 11.19 (+0.0) at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships. She won the 100m and 200m titles at the 2023 and 2024 ACC Championships, earning Outstanding Women’s Track Athlete of the Meet honors both seasons. DeFrand had a wind-aided PR of 10.88 (+2.8w) to win the 100m dash title at the 2024 LSU Invitational. DeFrand was named ACC Freshman of the Year in 2023 and was a three-time ACC Most Valuable Track Performer.

HIGH SCHOOL:
DeFrand is a 2022 graduate of Lincoln High in Lincoln, Neb. where she was one of the most decorated track and field athletes in Nebraska history. She is the Nebraska high school record holder in the 100m (11.64) and 200m dashes (23.74). She was named the 2020-21 Nebraska Athlete of the Year and was a state champion in the 100m dash and 200m dash while helping the Lincoln High School 4x100m relay team to a state title

Dajaz was born on Oct. 16, 2003 in Lincoln, Neb…Her parents are Laquanda Ellison and Donald DeFrand and she has three sisters and two brothers…Her father played football at Nebraska from 2003-06….Lists her favorite movies as Step Brothers, Bridesmaids and The Harder They Fall…Her interests include painting, drawing and ceramics….He favorite food is Haitian food….At FSU, she volunteered for the Backpack Blitz at Second Harvest…Someday she would like to travel to Paris and Bora Bora…After USC, she would like to be a successful entrepreneur and continue to be a role model…DeFrand is a Popular Culture  major at USC.
