THIS YEAR: Junior Vishnu Swaminathan is in his second season as a distance runner on the USC track and field team.
2024: Swaminathan competed in four outdoor meets for the Trojans. He set his 800m PR of 1:59.90 at the Trojan Invitational on March 23. He also ran his season-best 1500m time of 4:06.28 to place ninth in the event at the Trojan Invitational. He did not compete in the indoor season.
2023: Swaminathan attended USC and ran unattached during the 2023 season. He posted a 1500m PR of 4:05.65 at the Long Beach Invitational on April 15, 2023.
HIGH SCHOOL: Swaminathan is a 2022 graduate of The John Cooper School in The Woodlands, Texas. His high school best in the 1600m was 4:21.56. He placed third in the 1600m to earn All-Southwest Preparatory Conference. He graduated Suma Cum Laude.
PERSONAL: Vishnu was born on Feb. 6, 2004 in The Woodlands, Texas….His parents are Suma Gopinathan and Vijayakumar Swaminathan…He loves cars and reading…His favorite actor is Matthew McConaughey…Says Avinash Sable is his sports hero because since competing seriously, he was a person that looked like the person to follow on the big stage…His favorite food is butter chicken…Someday would like to travel to Scotland…He is majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a Business Finance minor and after graduating would like to pursue graduate school and eventually work his way up onto the board of a major car company.
