Christian Tupou was named as assistant strength and conditioning coach for USC Athletics in 2019.
He was a 3-year (2008-09-11) starting defensive tackle at USC, with 53 career tackles (including 7 for losses). He was named USC’s Most Inspirational Player as a 2011 senior, when he served as a team co-captain. He also won USC’s Courage Award and Co-Lifter of the Year Award in 2010, made All-Pac-10 honorable mention and won USC Co-Defensive Lineman of the Year Award and Bob Chandler Award in 2009 and won USC’s John McKay Award and Service Team Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2007. He missed the 2010 season with a knee injury. He was a member of USC teams that won the 2008 and 2009 Rose Bowl and 2009 Emerald Bowl.
He received his bachelor’s degree in political science from USC in 2012.
He was an undrafted NFL free agent who played the 2013 season as a defensive end with the Chicago Bears. He also spent time with the Indianapolis Colts (2014), San Francisco 49ers (2014), Arizona Cardinals (2014) and Cleveland Browns (2014-15). In 2015, he interned with California state senator Jim Nielsen.
After his NFL career, he was an actor.
He prepped at Grant High in Sacramento (Calif.). His brother, Fenuki, was an offensive tackle at Oregon (2007-08) and with the Philadelphia, New Orleans Saints and Arizona Rattlers.
