USC Green Tailgating Tips
- green.usc.edu/get-involved/green-tailgating/
- USC guests generate tons of trash during campus tailgating every season, and most of it ends up in local landfills.
- This fall, join the Trojan Family in "greening" our campus tailgates; these tips can help!
- Take a Ride on the Green Side – Use public transportation or carpool to campus.
- Bulk Up – Purchase your tailgate treats and beverages in bulk and reduce packaging waste.
- Never Refuse to Reuse – Reusable plates, cups, and utensils help to reduce single use plastics.
- Be a Conscious Consumer – Mylar balloons end up in the ocean and Styrofoam products end up in landfill, and neither biodegrade. Consider alternative choices.
- Meat us Halfway – Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants. Better for you, better for the planet.
- Stop Talking Trash – Sort waste into color-coded recycling, composting, and landfill bins and make sure items are clean and dry—separate, don’t contaminate!
- Join the Trojan Green Team – Encourage your friend to make these changes in their tailgate routine also
