Football Wraps Up Spring Practice
April 15, 2000
LOS ANGELES - Senior quarterback Mike Van Raaphorst threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to sophomore receiver Steve Stevenson to highlight a brief 27-play intrasquad scrimmage by the USC football team on the final day of spring practice on Saturday (April 15) at Howard Jones Field on campus.
Van Raaphorst completed 6-of-8 passes for 82 yards and one score while Stevenson caught a scrimmage-high three passes for 42 yards. Returning starting sophomore quarterback Carson Palmer shared snaps with Van Raaphorst, completing 3-of-4 passes for 18 yards.
"I think we did some good things," USC Coach Paul Hackett said. "The defense continues to rise up. We've got some work to do on offense. We know it. It's not a surprise. But we have time to improve."
USC opens its regular season against Penn State in the Kickoff Classic on Aug. 27 at Giants Stadium.
