Women's Volleyball
After enduring a narrow defeat at the hands of UCLA Friday night, No. 15 USC returned on Saturday morning to sweep Fairfield University, 3-0 (15-6, 15-9, 15-10). Despite career-best performances from middle blockers Jennifer Pahl and Amber Oliver, the 15th-ranked USC Trojans were narrowly defeated by No. 6 UCLA, 3-1(16-14, 15-6, 15-11, 19-17).
Men?s Water Polo
With four unanswered goals in the final 7:20, the No. 3 USC men's water polo team defeated No. 1 UCLA, 10-7, in a non-conference match at the McDonald's Swim Stadium on Saturday morning.
Football
Chad Morton, who guaranteed three months ago that USC would beat UCLA for the first time in nine years, rushed for 143 yards and John Fox threw for two touchdowns Saturday as the Trojans downed the Bruins 17-7.
Men's Basketball
Sam Clancy scored 24 points and Brian Scalabrine added 18 points Friday night as USC jumped out to a lead midway through the first half against Cal State Northridge and held on for a 73-59 win.
Women's Basketball
Led by junior forward Tashara Carter's 13 points, five Trojans scored in double-figures to guide the USC women?s basketball team to a 84-59 victory over the national team of New Zealand on Wednesday (Nov. 17). Led by senior forward Danielle Golay?s 18 points and junior center Denise Woods? 15 points, the USC women?s basketball team won its exhibition opener over SBC Hanacka Kyselka Prerov, 79-67, on Monday (Nov. 15) in front of 452 at the Lyon Center.
Athletes of the Week
Chad Morton, Football
Chad rushed for 143 yards on a career-high 36 carries (the most carries by a Trojan since 1987) to lead the win over UCLA. Chad also surpassed the 1,000 yard mark ( the 21st time a Trojan has done so) and he is now eighth on the all-time Trojan rushing chart.
Jennifer Pahl, Women's Volleyball
Pahl had a career-best 23 kills to go with 3 aces and 11 digs in a narrow four-game loss to UCLA Friday night. On Saturday, in a sweep of Fairfield, Jenny had a career-best 18 digs along with 10 kills.
