In his first year under center, Darnold has proven to be one of the best QBs in the nation. His 22 TD passes rank first among all freshman QBs, as do his 68.1 completion percentage, 8.7 yards per attempt and 165.8 passing efficiency.
ESPN's Total QB Rating, which accounts for strength of opponents' defenses, places Darnold fifth in the nation, above any other freshman.
With UCLA's Josh Rosen out for this year's rivalry game due to injury, Darnold will try to outgun UCLA redshirt senior Mike Fafaul. The crosstown showdown kicks off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
