Unlike the USC faithful who get to make a pilgrimage to the great city of Chicago for the Notre Dame game every two years, the Trojans take a markedly different approach for their biennial weekend trip to the Midwest.
It's all business, all the time, and their travel itinerary matches that sentiment.
The USC team traveling party will fly into South Bend, Ind., on Thursday evening and stay two nights in Michigan City, a low-key town of 33,000 people in northwest Indiana. One mall, one high school and one hospital are pretty much all that's in Michigan City, which is also the birthplace of pitching great Don Larsen and the location of the Indiana State Prison.
So needless to say, but no sightseeing or tourism is on the agenda for the Trojans this weekend, who will fly out of South Bend Regional Airport immediately after Saturday afternoon's game.
