This year's no different, as the offensive linemen have been outfitted with new cleats that are lighter, have a better width and are more comfortable, not to mention look a little more aerodynamic than the old cleats players say look like "moon boots."
"I'm excited because the O-linemen really like them," director of equipment operations David "Pops" Scott said of the new cleats that about three-quarters of the offensive linemen have now switched to. "They're usually very superstitious about what they wear, so we were really careful with these."
The most noticeable change to an outside viewer might be the splash of white on the shoe, a pretty big adjustment for the Trojans, who are renowned for wearing fully black cleats with white laces.
"It's just what Nike gives us," Scott said.
Though a more advanced shoe, the most appreciated aspect of the new cleats might be something completely unrelated to its functionality. Players are raving about the sharp, sleek look, which is a huge change from the clunky all-black cleats the players all used to wear.
"I like them," offensive lineman Alex Parsons said, "because they don't look like moon boots."

New for this season, offensive linemen have been outfitted with a new style of cleats that's more comfortable, wider and lighter.
