There was simply not a better collegiate women's volleyball player in the country this year than USC senior Samantha Bricio, who led the nation in points (803.0), points per set (6.18 pps), service aces (89) and aces per set (.68 saps). On Wednesday, the USC record holder in career and single season kills, attacks, aces and points was named the Honda Sports Award winner for women's volleyball after her tremendous season.Bricio is the fourth USC women's volleyball player to win the prestigious award and the third under head coach Mick Haley. Already the AVCA Player of the Year, a First Team AVCA All-American, the espnW National Player of the Year and the Pac-12 Player of the Year, the senior outside hitter capped off her wildly successful four-year career by receiving the Honda Award which recognizes the top women athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports and signifies "the best of the best in collegiate athletics".
Now, Bricio becomes a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the year and the prestigious 2016 Honda Cup, which will be presented on a live telecast on June 27, 2016, in the Founders' Room at the Galen Center.
