When USC and Notre Dame get together, the national championship is often on the line for at least one of the two programs. This Saturday, the Fighting Irish are one win away from securing a BCS Championship bid, but the Trojans can spoil their rival's dreams.
In 1978, USC was knocking on the door of a national championship when Notre Dame pushed them to the brink. The Trojans responded with a game-winning drive engineered by Paul McDonald capped by a Frank Jordan 37-yard field goal in the dying seconds.
