THIS SEASON: Senior Sam Kim enters his second year with the Trojans in 2019, a part time starter as a junior looking to increase his role in his final year with the team.
2018: Kim saw action in six tournaments, starting four times, as a 2018 junior transfer, finishing with a stroke average of 73.53 with four rounds in the 60s. His season was topped by a tie for 17th at the Bill Cullum Invitational at par 216 (68-71-77). He tied for 43rd at the Saint Mary’s Invitational at 4-over 217 (77-71-69) and tied for 52nd at The Prestige at PGA West at 9-over 151 (74-77).
NEW MEXICO: Kim played in 25 tournaments as a Lobo and posted a combined stroke average of 73.59 with 11 rounds in the 60s, including 19 of par or better and had three top 10s and eight top 25 finishes … As a freshman, Kim finished with a 73.26 average in 38 rounds with seven rounds under 70, 11 par of better and a season-best second-place finish at the San Diego Classic. He had a stroke average of 73.94 as a sophomore last season, posting a season-best tie for 13th at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate.
HIGH SCHOOL: Kim prepped at Northwood High, where he earned 2013 AJGA Rolex All-American honorable mention and AJGA Junior All-Star Team honors and was regularly ranked among the top 50 in the National Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings. He won the 2014 U.S. Junior Amateur Qualifier (68-69) by eight shots, posting a score of 7- under, won the 2013 Junior All-Star at Cypress Ridge with scores of 69 and 70 to finish at 5- under, claimed the 62nd Annual Gail Stockton Memorial in 2012 with a score of 1- under and also captured the Toyota Tour Cup Series in 2012 with a score of 3- under 69. Kim, a 2015 Orange County Register All-County first teamer, first started playing in tournaments at the age of 4.
PERSONAL: Kim, a communication major, was born July 15, 1997, in Anaheim, Calif. He has one brother, Peter Kim (who played prep football).
