USC Track and Field’s Racquil Broderick Wins Big Ten Men’s Discus Title on Day Two of Championships

Ten Trojans will compete in individual event finals on the track on Sunday

LINCOLN, Neb. — The USC track and field team added points to the team total out of women's shot put, women's long jump and men's discus on day two of Big Ten Outdoor Championships. The Trojans went 1-2 in the discus with Racquil Broderick earning the championship title alongside runner-up Mico Lampinen.

Broderick worked his way up from third headed into finals with a best mark of 62.80m (206-0)on his sixth throw. His fourth throw would've secured the title already, but Broderick continued to out-throw his own mark for each throw after. Lampinen earned second place with a new personal best of 59.81m (196-2) on his final throw as well, earning eight points for the team in his first conference championship. Vincent Ugwoke earned eighth place with a mark of 57.04m (187-2) on his fifth throw.

Ashley Erasmus brought in six points at shot put with a bronze medal finish. Her mark of 17.93m (58-10) came on her fourth throw. Eramus adds the medal to her collection alongside her 2025 Outdoor and 2026 Indoor Championship third-place finishes.

In women's long jump, Lauren Reed picked up sixth place and three points with a new personal best. Her mark of 6.29m (20-7.75) on her second jump carried her through to the scoring position in her final collegiate conference competition.
Madison Whyte and Jack Stadlman, 2026 Indoor Big Ten Champions, both received automatic qualifiers out of their respective 400m heats. Whyte ran 52.00 on the women's side while Stadlman recorded 45.57 in the men's heats.
Three Women of Troy advanced to the 100m with Brianna Selby leading the field at 11.19. Dajaz DeFrand (11.31) and Rachael Uvieghara (11.43) will also compete in Sunday's final. On the men's side, Edward Nketia ran 10.18 in the 100m prelims to advance.
Asjah Atkinson will represent the hurdlers in the 100m hurdles after advancing out of prelims with a time of 13.41.
