The graduate senior had his best finish as a Trojan to help USC win the Wyoming Cowboy Classic.
ROSEMONT, Ill. — Coming off his top-three finish at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, USC Men's Golf graduate senior Luke Stock was named the Big Ten Men's Golfer of the Week on Thursday, April 2.
This is the first Big Ten weekly award of Stock's career and the third by the Trojans this season, which is tied for the second-most by any team in the Big Ten so far. He joins Jaden Dumdumaya and Antonio Safa to earn a weekly award this year.
Helping the Trojans win the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, Stock put together his best tournament as a Trojan by tying for third with a 206 (-10). In his first round, Stock fired a 66 (-6) to tie his best collegiate round, which put him inside the top 10 for the remainder of the tournament. He fired a 69 (-3) in the second round that brought him into first place before finishing with a 71 (-1) in the final round.
Stock had 17 birdies and an eagle in the tournament, but his final birdie was the most important. With USC and Arkansas State tied heading into the final hole, Stock's birdie on the par-5, No. 3 pushed the Trojans across the line to help the team win with an 838 (-26) — the team's third tournament victory of the season.
All told, Stock's result at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic was one of the best of his career. It was not only his best finish as a Trojan, but also the sixth top-5 finish of his career.
Stock and the Trojans will play in their final regular-season tournament at the Western Intercollegiate, hosted by San Jose State at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, Calif. from April 13-15. All pertinent information can be found on the men's golf team's schedule page on usctrojans.com.
