PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. — The No. 2 USC women's golf team finished the first round of the Therese Hession Regional Challenge at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif. on Sunday, Feb. 1.

The Trojans struggled throughout the par-71, 6,017-yard course and dropped into a tie for 14th with Miami with a 303 (+19). No. 23 UCLA leads the pack as the only team below par with a 282 (-2), while Kinslea Jones of Kansas is the top individual after firing a 67 (-4).

Junior Bailey Shoemaker leads the Trojans in a tie for 24th place after firing a 73 (+2) in her first round of the 2025-26 season. She led the team with three birdies, but four bogeys on the back side pushed her score over par.

Sophomore Kylie Chong is in a tie for 44th place with a 75 (+4). Her four bogeys were the lowest on the team and she had one birdie on the par-5 No. 5.

Sophomore Elise Lee is tied for 58th place with a 77 (+6). She found trouble on the front side with five bogeys before turning things around on the back side with one birdie on the par-4 No. 11 and two bogeys.

Freshman Chloe Kim is also tied for 58th place a 77 (+6). Competing as an individual, Sunday's round marked her collegiate debut. Kim found trouble on the front side with one bogey and two double-bogeys on Nos. 4 and 9, but recorded her first collegiate birdie on the par-4 No. 6. She finished with three bogeys and one birdie on the back side.

Rounding out the Trojan scores, Catherine Park is in a tie for 68th with a 78 (+7), while Jasmine Koo is tied for 83rd with an 81 (+10).

USC will look to bounce back tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. PT. Koo will tee off first for the Trojans, who will all start on No. 10. A link to live scoring can be found on Scoreboard or the women's golf team's schedule page on usctrojans.com.
