LEXINGTON, Ky. – USC women's golf cemented its spot for the NCAA Championship Final Site, as it utilized one of the best rounds of the tournament – nine-under par – to stay in 4th out of 12 teams at the NCAA Lexington Regional on Wednesday, May 7, at the Keene Trace Golf Club.
The Trojans are officially heading to their 27th straight NCAA Championship Final Site – nationwide leader – as they finished the Lexington Regional at seven-under par overall (857 = 289 + 289 + 279). During the final day, USC utilized a 68-69-71-71 (279) to solidify its fourth-place finish. No. 3 Florida State won the regional at 15-under par.
Sophomore Bailey Shoemaker earned her third top 10 finish of the season after producing her best round of the year, four-under par, 68. The sophomore was rolling on the front nine after securing a 36 (E) on the back nine. On the front, she had four straight birdies – holes No. 5 through No. 8 – as she posted a 32 (-4). Her round was tied for the fourth best in the field as she moved up eight spots into a tie for 7th at three-under par.
Freshman Jasmine Koo earned the day's second-best score for the Trojans as she was three-under par and ended the tournament four-over par, tying her for 30th. Koo produced a new program record, as she secured her 12th round in the 60s this season – the record was held by Amari Avery (2023) and Kyung Kim (2014). The freshman posted four birdies and had few issues as she only had one bogey.
Freshman Kylie Chong and junior Catherine Park recorded top 10 finishes alongside Shoemaker, as both players were two-under par overall, tying them for ninth in the field. This is Chong's second top 10 finish of the season, and this is Park's ninth, tying her for the most in program history – Lizette Salas (2009), Jennifer Song (2009) and Candi Kung (2001). Chong produced a one-under par final round with five birdies and four bogeys, Park posted the same score with six birdies, three bogeys and one double bogey.
Senior Xin (Cindy) Kou had the final score for the USC as she was two-over par on the day, and was five-over total, tying her for 36th in the field.
