Jana Hossam Named Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week

LOS ANGELES – USC first-year women's tennis player Jana Hossam was announced as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Wednesday, following a strong performance against UCLA over the weekend. The award marks Hossam's second Freshman of the Week honor, with the rookie previously winning the award back in October.Â
No. 118 Jana Hossam recorded her 15th singles win of the year on Friday against crosstown rival UCLA, improving to 5-2 in singles dual action. The freshman recorded a 6-0, 7-6(4) win over UCLA's Ahmani Guichard to help USC defeat UCLA 4-3. She was also the first Trojan to record a singles win against the Bruins, bringing the score to 2-2.
Hossam, who currently sits at an overall singles record of 15-6, also boasts a doubles ranking of No. 44 with her partner Sloane Morra. The duo is 7-0 this year and 5-0 in dual matches, playing predominantly at No. 2 doubles.Â
USC hits the road this weekend for a pair of Big Ten duals, facing Washington on Friday at 12:00 p.m. and Oregon on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Pacific Time.Â
