USC Athletics Maintains Department Record 94 Percent Graduation Success Rate
December 02, 2025 | USC Athletics
LOS ANGELES β USC Athletics' Graduation Success Rate (GSR) remains at 94 percent, matching last year's all-time high for the department, according to data released by the NCAA in November. The Trojans have now set or matched their GSR record for 11 straight years, continuing a rise that has seen USC improve its overall figure by 27 percentage points since the NCAA first released GSR numbers in 2005.
The GSR measures how many student-athletes in the cohort classes of 2015 through 2018 graduated within six years of their enrollment.
USC's 94 percent four-year figure ranks the Trojans tied for third in the Big Ten, improving one spot from last year. USC trails only Northwestern (99) and Michigan (96). The Trojans' score is also higher than the overall average for all Division I FBS programs, which stands at 90 percent.
"No place fosters academic and athletic success like USC, and our student-athletes continue to win at the highest level, in the classroom and in competition," said Charles Griffin Cale Director of Athletics Jen Cohen. "These GSR scores are a testament to the relentless work ethic of our student-athletes and the unwavering support they receive from our coaches, faculty, staff, Student-Athlete Academic Services team, and University leadership. We are incredibly proud of these accomplishments and committed to continuing to provide a best-in-class student-athlete experience for every Trojan."Β
Fourteen of USC's 20 NCAA-tracked sports posted a perfect 100 percent Graduation Success Rate this year: baseball, men's golf, men's tennis, men's track and field, men's volleyball, women's basketball, women's beach volleyball, women's golf, women's lacrosse, women's soccer, women's swimming and diving, women's tennis, women's track and field/cross country, and women's volleyball. An additional four programs scored in the 90β99 percent range, and 18 of USC's 20 sports earned GSR marks above their respective national averages.
Ten USC programs matched or extended all-time high GSR marks for their teams, and 18 programs either improved or maintained their scores from last year. Notable year-over-year improvements include football (+3 percentage points), men's basketball (+2), women's water polo (+2) and men's water polo (+1). Football's 85 percent marked an all-time high, as did baseball's 100 percent score.Β
Several programs continued long streaks of perfect GSR performance. Women's soccer recorded 100 percent for the tenth consecutive year, men's tennis for the ninth, women's lacrosse for the eighth, women's track and field/cross country for the sixth, and men's volleyball for the fifth. Five additional programs β men's golf, men's track and field/cross country, women's basketball, women's golf, and women's beach volleyball β have now achieved perfect scores in four consecutive seasons.
