USC’s Ja’Kobi Lane Named to AP All-Bowl Team
January 12, 2025 | Football
LOS ANGELES—USC wide receiver Ja'Kobi Lane has been named to the AP All-Bowl Team for his performance in the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 27, 2024.
The expansion of the College Football Playoff has led to an evolution in how The Associated Press puts together its all-bowl team. The AP will put together two postseason all-star teams – one for those who competed in non-playoff bowl games and one for playoff participants.
Lane was named the Las Vegas Bowl MVP after recording 7 receptions for 127 yards and a Las Vegas Bowl record 3 TDs. Lane now has 5 career receiving TDs in bowl games (3 in the 2024 Las Vegas Bowl and 2 in the 2023 Holiday Bowl versus Louisville).
USC's 35-31 victory over Texas A&M marked the biggest comeback victory in Las Vegas Bowl history. Additionally, it was the largest deficit that USC has ever overcome in a bowl game win (17 points), with the previous being a 15-point deficit against Penn State in the 2017 Rose Bowl.
USC improved to 4-0 all-time versus Texas A&M, including the last three meetings happening in bowl games. USC improved to 2-0 at Allegiant Stadium during the 2024 season as the Trojans downed another SEC opponent, LSU, in the Vegas Kickoff Classic on September 1. Finally, the Trojans improved to 2-1 all-time in the Las Vegas Bowl, having defeated Fresno State in 2013 and lost to Utah in 2001.
