The Golf Channel tabbed three Trojans as preseason All-Americans as Catherine Park and Jasmine Koo are on the First Team and Bailey Shoemaker is on the Second Team
LOS ANGELES - USC women's golf was named as the No. 2 team in the Golfweek rankings, and the No. 3 team in Golf Channel's preseason top 25 list, while Catherine Park, Jasmine Koo and Bailey Shoemaker earned preseason All-American nods on both lists; Golfweek and the Golf Channel/Brentley Romine announced on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
The Women of Troy reloaded this season, as they lost a trio of players (Amari Avery, Brianna Navarrosa, and Christine Wang) but brought in one of the best recruiting classes in the nation with freshmen Jasmine Koo and Kylie Chong. Alongside those two is a trio of experienced starters: Catherine Park, Bailey Shoemaker, and Xin (Cindy) Kou. Park was one of the best golfers in the country last season, as she was named a First Team All-American by multiple outlets and was a finalist for the ANNIKA Award. Shoemaker returns for her sophomore season after finishing second at the Augusta National Women's Amateur, and Kou was named to the All-Conference Pac-12 First Team in 2023.
Golf Channel Preseason All-Americans:
Catherine Park, First Team
The junior comes into the season as the clear frontrunner on the squad. Park posted a historic season for the Women of Troy, as she was an ANNIKA Award Finalist and a WGCA/Golfweek First Team All-American. Park heads into her junior year with multiple team records: single-season stroke average (70.94) and rounds at par or better (23). The reigning Pac-12 Champion will get her chance to compete in a new environment as she aims for the Big Ten title this season.
Jasmine Koo, First Team
The incoming freshman is among the best players heading into the collegiate landscape. Koo currently ranks No. 6 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (Sept. 2). Koo has posted three wins and 13 top ten finishes during her amateur career. The Torrance native has been a tear this summer, including posting the best Amateur finish, 13th place, at the LPGA's Chevron Championship. The incoming freshman is set to add to her trophy case as she is ranked No. 1 in the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) standings for player of the year.
Bailey Shoemaker, Second Team
Shoemaker will play a pivotal role in the success of USC's squad, just as she did last season. The sophomore helped lead the Women of Troy to the Final Four after making the final putt to beat Clemson in the Quarterfinals. Shoemaker's freshman year was highlighted by a second-place finish at the Augusta National Women's Amateur. Shoemaker posted a bogey-free 66 in the final round and set a new single-round record for the tournament. The sophomore on the collegiate stage posted a 72.57 stroke average and had a second-place finish at the NCAA East Lansing Regional.
