USC’s Jonah Monheim Named to Rimington Trophy Watch List

LOS ANGELES—USC center Jonah Monheim was selected to the 2024 Rimington Trophy Watch List, today (Aug. 9). The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the most outstanding center in NCAA Division I College Football.
USC, ranked third nationally in scoring offense (41.8), fifth nationally in passing offense (333.0) and tenth in total offense (467.6) in 2023, takes its high-powered offense into the Big Ten with Monheim, a returning captain, at center.
He was also named to the 2024 Outland Trophy Watch List as well as the Athlon Sports Preseason All-American Second Team, Athlon Sports Preseason All-Big Ten First Team and Phil Steele Preseason All-Big Ten Second Team.
Monheim started all 13 games on the offensive line as a redshirt junior in 2023. He started 12 times at left tackle and 1 time at right guard. He was named to the AP All-Pac-12 Second Team and Phil Steele All-Pac-12 Fourth Team.
This year, the Rimington Trophy committee worked with Pro Football Focus (PFF) to narrow down its list to the top 40 centers. PFF grades every player on every play of every game on how well they execute their given assignment. That play-by-play grading allowed the Trophy committee to create a watch list based both on nominations from the schools and data provided by PFF.
Dave Rimington, the award's namesake, was a consensus first-team All-America center at the University of Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which time he became the John Outland Trophy's only two-time winner as the nation's finest college interior lineman.
