USC’s Towns, Reed And Gerald Win Events At The Mt. SAC Relays

Towns win the women’s 800m, Reed the women’s TJ, Gerald the men’s high jump
Tracy Towns won the women's 800m, Lauren Reed won the women's triple jump and Elias Gerald won the men's high jump during USC's second day of action at the Mt. SAC Relays held at Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut, Calif. today (April 19).
- Tracy Towns won the College/Open women's 800m race with a PR of 2:06.13. Leah Disher took second in the 800m with a PR of 2:06.20. Alyssa Blockburger had a season-best time of 2:09.33 to place seventh in the 800m.
- Elias Gerald won the College/Open men's high jump with a season-best clearance of 6-11.50 (2.12m). He was perfect to that height, then went out at 7-1.50 (2.17m ) which would have matched his outdoor career high.
- Lauren Reed won the College/Open women's triple jump competition with a best jump of 41-9.75/12.74m (+3.6w). Jada Foreman tied her PR with a jump of 41-1.75/12.54m (+1.9) to place fifth and Ahnyx Bush, back on her old track, placed ninth with a jump of 39-9.75/12.13m (+2.8w)).
- Reese Garland placed second in the College/Open women's discus throw with a PR of 166-9 (50.84m) and now is just a half-meter outside of USC's all-time top 10 in the event. Her first five throws today bested her previous career high.
- Jacob Andrews won his heat and placed fourth in the College/Open men's 400m with a season-best time of 46.43.
- Alyssa Hope placed fourth in the College/Open women's long jump with a jump of 20-3.75/6.19m (+0.0). Hope was in the third flight and had two fouls before her third-round jump of 20-3.75/which moved her into first entering the finals, with 4 centimeters separating the top four jumpers. She did not improve in her final three jumps and tied for third as far as best jumps went, but lost out on the tie-breaker to finish fourth.
- Josh Ligas placed fourth in the College/Open men's 800m race with a PR of 1:50.25.
- Tamaal Myers placed second in his heat and sixth overall in the College/Open men's 400m hurdles with a time of 51.94.
- Jacqueline Duarte ran a season-best time of 4:42.92 to place eighth in the College/Open women's 1500m race.
- Reese Garland came back to post a PR of 46-11 (14.30m) in the College/Open women's shot put competition to reach the finals. She did not improve with her final throws to finish ninth, but posted three throws over her previous personal best in the shot put.
