USC Men's Swimming and Diving Finishes 22nd at 2024 NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 21 ranked USC men's swimming and diving team, led by freshman first team All-American Krzysztof Chmielewski, concluded action at the 2024 NCAA Championships on Saturday, March 30 at the IUPUI Natatorium.Â

The Trojans wrapped up action at the championships with 31 points, finishing 22nd in the team rankings. ASU walked away with the team title, tallying 523.5 points. Cal was second with 444.5 points.Â

Saturday saw Krzysztof Chmielewski turn in a huge day of swims as the Trojan freshman earned All-America honors in both the 1650y freestyle and the 200y butterfly. Chmielewski finished fourth overall in the mile, clocking a 14:39.10 to become USC's highest finishing All-American in the event since 2007.Â

During prelims, Chmielewski broke Alexei Sancov's school record in the 200y butterfly, blasting a 1:40.98 to earn a second swim. Later in the evening, he'd return to earn second team All-America honors in the 200y fly as he'd clock a 1:43.77 for eighth in the consolation final.

In the diving well, Trojan Laurent Gosselin-Paradis earned his first ever All-American honors, finishing third in the consolation final of the platform competition with 384.50 points. The second team All-American earned his spot in the B final after finishing 13th in prelims with 363.80 points.Â

Trojan Robert Gref also competed on platform, finishing 30th with 297.75 points.

During swimming prelims, Vaggelis Makrygiannis posted a 1:41.02 to finish 24th in the 200y backstroke. With his time, he tied Alabama's Tommy Hagar for 24th.Â

Trojan junior Artem Selin was 56th in the 100y freestyle (42.96), while Ben Dillard (1:54.40) and Chris O'Grady (1:55.76) finished 26th and 33rd, respectively in the 200y breaststroke.Â
