No. 9 USC Women's Tennis Wallops the Wildcats to Stay Undefeated in Pac-12 Play

The Women of Troy (10-4, 3-0 Pac-12) stay perfect to start conference play, as they best Arizona 5-2
LOS ANGELES – USC women's tennis (10-4, 3-0 Pac-12) remains undefeated in conference play to start the season, as it tamed the desert dwellers of Arizona (11-8, 0-3 Pac-12) on Friday, Mar. 15 at Marks Tennis Stadium.
The Women of Troy got off to a slow start in doubles, as they went down on all three courts, but soon found a resurgence. At court No. 2 Lily Fairclough/McKenna Koenig overcame being down 3-5, and at court No. 3 #36 Grace Piper/Parker Fry were down 3-4. A rally would prompt the two courts to win six straight sets, as USC secured the doubles point against the Wildcats.
On the singles side four singles players were able to secure a tally in the win column. No. 2 #31 Emma Charney was the first to put a point on the board in singles play, as she won 6-2, 6-3. No. 4 #51 Grace Piper would strike next with a three setter as she overcame a 4-6 deficit before winning two straight sets to win 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.
No. 3 #113 Eryn Cayetano would clinch the match over Arizona, as she won 7-5, 6-4, and at the No. 6 court McKenna Koenig would finalize the score with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 victory.
USC takes on Arizona State on Alumni Day at 12 p.m. tomorrow (Mar. 16) at Marks Tennis Stadium.
