August 07, 2023 | Football
LOS ANGELES—USC wide receivers Dorian Singer and Tahj Washington were selected to the 2023 Biletnikoff Award Watch List today (Aug. 7). The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the college football season's outstanding FBS receiver.
Singer, who transferred to USC in the spring of 2023 from Arizona, looks to figure into the Trojan lineup this fall. He appeared in all 12 games with 11 starts in his sophomore season with the Wildcats in 2022. He had a breakout year in yards and receptions marking his first 1,000-yard-plus season earning AP All-Pac-12 First Team and All-Pac-12 Second Team honors. He finished the season with a career-high 1,105 yards on a career-high 66 receptions, and 6 TDs and recorded four 100-plus yard games. He was named to the 2022 Biletnikoff Award Midseason Watch List.
Washington, a fixture in the Trojan wide receiving corps, returns as a starter as a redshirt senior in 2023. He had 50 receptions for 785 yards (15.7 avg) with 6 TDs, as well as 3 kickoff returns for 75 yards (25.0 avg) while appearing in 14 games with 11 starts (all but Stanford, Fresno State and Arizona State) as a redshirt junior in 2022. He also was a vital member of the Trojan special teams and recorded 1 tackle in the Pac-12 Championship game against Utah. He was named an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention.
Former Trojan Marqise Lee is the only USC football player to win the Biletnikoff Award. He won in 2012 after a record-breaking season at wide receiver.
In addition to Lee, USC has had 5 other finalists: Keyshawn Johnson (1995), Mike Williams (2003), Dwayne Jarrett (2005), Robert Woods (2011) and Michael Pittman Jr. (2019).
Jordan Addison, the 2021 Biletnikoff winner, transferred to USC for the 2022 season and was the Trojans' top receiver that year.
Any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot back, and running back) who catches a pass is eligible for the award. As such, the Biletnikoff Award recognizes college football's outstanding receiver, not merely college football's outstanding wide receiver.
The winner of the Biletnikoff Award will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards, live on ESPN in December.
