Big Ten Conference Announces USC’s 2024 and 2025 Football Opponents

LOS ANGELES—The Big Ten Conference announced USC's 2024 and 2025 football opponents, today (June 8).
USC's 2024 conference home opponents will be Illinois, Iowa, Michigan and Wisconsin. The Trojans' Big Ten Conference away games will include Maryland, Northwestern, Penn State, Purdue and UCLA.
In 2025, USC will face Indiana, Michigan State, Nebraska, Penn State and UCLA at home, and will travel to challenge Minnesota, Ohio State, Rutgers and Wisconsin.
With the additions of USC and UCLA into the conference, 2024 will be the first season with 16 teams in the Big Ten Conference and no divisional format.
The 2024 Big Ten football season will debut the Flex Protect Plus model, which features a combination of protected opponents and rotating opponents for universities. Each member institution will play nine intraconference games per season, and teams will play every other conference opponent at least twice – once home and once away – in a four-year period.
Conference schedules will include 11 protected matchups that will continue to be played annually and feature a combination of historic and geographic rivalries, as well as trophy games.
The crosstown rivalry of USC and UCLA will be a guaranteed annual protected matchup.
The 2024 season will conclude with the annual Big Ten Football Championship Game, which will feature the top two teams in the overall conference standings at the end of the regular season, with the winner earning the Big Ten Championship. Tiebreaking procedures will be announced at a later date.
The game dates for the 2024 football schedule will be announced later this year.
USC is 75-30-3 all-time against current opponents from the Big Ten Conference, and leads its series with 11 out of the 12 opponents it has faced.
USC is 11-2 against Illinois and 7-3 against Iowa. The Trojans are 6-4 against Michigan, 6-1 versus Wisconsin and 5-0 against Northwestern. USC is 6-4 versus Penn State, 3-1 against Purdue and 4-0 versus Indiana. USC is tied 4-4 in its series with Michigan State, but is 3-0-1 versus Nebraska, 6-1-1 against Minnesota and 13-10-1 versus Ohio State.
The Trojans have never competed against Maryland or Rutgers.
USC leads its series with crosstown rival UCLA 50-33-7, not including Troy's 2004 and 2005 victories that were vacated due to NCAA penalty (original record: 52-33-7). Most recently, Lincoln Riley's Trojan squad defeated the Bruins 48-45 in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. during the 2022 season.
