USC’s Calen Bullock and Mason Cobb Named to 2023 Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List
May 04, 2023 | Football
LOS ANGELES--Junior defensive back Calen Bullock and senior inside linebacker Mason Cobb have been named to the 2023 Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List.
The 42-man watch list is comprised of 16 linebackers, 13 defensive backs and 13 defensive linemen.
Bullock, a First Team All-American, was a key component of USC's secondary as a sophomore in 2022. He started in all 14 games and led the team in INTs with 5 (ranked 11th in the nation). He also tallied 48 tackles (6th on the team) and 5 pass breakups (T-2nd on the team).
Cobb transferred to USC in the spring of 2023 from Oklahoma State. He was named to the All-Big-12 Second Team as he led the Cowboys in tackles and tackles for loss with 96 total tackles and 13.0 for losses as a junior linebacker in 2022. His tackles for loss marked the second-most in the Big-12.
The Lott IMPACT Trophy is the only major college football award that considers character.
Named after former NFL Hall of Fame star and former USC Trojan Ronnie Lott, the Lott Trophy annually goes to the Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year, a player who has had the biggest impact on his team both on and off the field.
IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity, all characteristics exhibited by Lott during his illustrious playing career.
The annual winner is selected by a national voter panel, consisting of former winners, members of the media, coaches and members of the Board of Directors of The IMPACT Foundation.
At today's luncheon (May 4) where the watch list was announced, USC head coach Lincoln Riley, was the keynote speaker.
The winner of the Lott IMPACT Trophy is announced at a gala black-tie event at The Pacific Club in Newport Beach, California December 10, 2023.
