USC's Andrew Vorhees Selected in Seventh Round Of 2023 NFL Draft By Baltimore Ravens
April 29, 2023 | Football
LOS ANGELES—USC offensive lineman Andrew Vorhees was drafted on the final day of the 2023 NFL Draft on Saturday (April 29).Â
Vorhees was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the seventh round as the No. 229 overall pick.
He is USC's 523rd all-time NFL draftee. USC is second behind Notre Dame's 525 for most NFL draft picks.Â
Vorhees is the first Trojan drafted by the Ravens since cornerback Iman Marshall in the 2019 Draft.Â
Vorhees made national news during the pre-Draft process as he tore his ACL while doing position drills at the 2023 NFL Combine, but the next day, proceeded to complete the bench press test and put up 38 reps of 225 pounds (the most reps of any Combine participant) on one leg.Â
Throughout his six seasons (2017-22), Vorhees played in 55 games and made 48 starts.Â
In 2022, he was named to the AP and PFF All-America First Teams. He also earned placement on the 2022 All-Pac-12 First Team and the Phil Steele All-Pac-12 First Team.Â
Vorhees also won the 2022 Morris Trophy, which is given to the most outstanding offensive and defensive lineman in the Pac-12 Conference and is voted on by the players. Â
His pass blocking was a crucial piece of Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams' outstanding performance this season to allow him to go 333-for-500 (.666) for 4,537 yards and 42 TDs. His run blocking allowed 5 different Trojans to score a total of 30 rushing TDs this season. Per PFF, Vorhees finished the season as the No. 5 graded guard in the nation with over 700 snaps.
In 2021, Vorhees made the AP All-Pac-12 First Team, Pro Football Focus All-Pac-12 First Team and won USC's Offensive Lineman of the Year Award.
He blocked for a wide variety of quarterbacks throughout his career, including 2022 Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams and the No. 3 overall draft pick in 2018, Sam Darnold.
On Thursday (April 27), USC wide receiver Jordan Addison was selected in the first round as the No. 23 overall pick by the Minnesota Vikings, the 85th Trojan first rounder ever (second most of any school). A USC player has been drafted every year since 1939.Â
Then on Friday (April 28), Trojan defensive lineman Tuli Tuipulotu went to the Los Angeles Chargers in the second round, and defensive back Mekhi Blackmon was drafted by the Vikings in the third round and will join Addison in Minnesota.Â
