USC Beach Volleyball Eliminates Washington to Advance at Pac-12 Championship

The Trojans locked up a 3-1 win over the 13th-ranked Huskies to stay alive in the Pac-12 Championship contender’s bracket
STANFORD, Calif. – The second-seeded and No. 3-ranked USC beach volleyball team (28-4) earned a 3-1 win over fifth-seeded No. 13-ranked Washington (21-15) to eliminate the Huskies in the contender's bracket of the 2023 Pac-12 Championship at Stanford Beach Volleyball Stadium on Thursday, April 27.Â

The Women of Troy improved to 9-0 all-time against Washington and to 24-6 in Pac-12 tournament duals. USC also goes to 18-3 in matches played in Stanford and will face the winner of a dual between top-seeded UCLA and seventh-seeded Arizona.

The Trojans scored the first point of the dual with a win at the No. 2 position where graduate Madison Shields and freshman Madison White completed a 24-22, 21-13 win over Kendall Mather and Piper Monk-Heidrich for their 21st win of the season.

Washington evened the dual with a win at the No. 4 spot. There, Teagan DeFalco and Mary Sinclair claimed a three-set victory, 21-23, 21-14, 15-13 over graduate Ashlyn Rasnick-Pope and freshman Bailey Showalter.

USC went in front again on a win at the top court where juniors Megan Kraft and Delaynie Maple put together their 15th straight victory by defeating Chloe Loreen and Natalie Robinson, 21-13, 21-14. The Trojan duo improves to 25-1 on the season with the win.

The clinching point went up on a win from the No. 3 spot where senior twins Audrey Nourse and Nicole Nourse went 24-22, 21-9 over Paloma Bowman and Scarlett Dahl to improve to 25-6 on the season and to 87-16 all-time. The twin sisters are now just four wins from matching the second-highest total in school history.

With the dual clinched, play at the No. 5 position was suspended with the Trojans' duo of junior Olivia Bakos and freshman Gabby Walker up, 21-16, 9-4, on Shannon Gormally and Hannah Yerex.Â
