The Trojans improved to 5-0 on the season with a victory over the visiting Huskies
LOS ANGELES – The fourth-ranked USC beach volleyball team (5-0) defeated 16th-ranked Washington (3-4) by a 4-1 count in the Pac-12 South Invitational at Merle Norman Stadium on Sunday, March 5.

The Women of Troy have now won 41 consecutive duals dating back one year to March 5, 2022. The Trojans also improved to 77-11 all-time at Merle Norman Stadium and have won 12 straight home duals. USC goes to 8-0 all-time in duals against the Huskies. Earlier in the day, 12th-ranked California (3-2) took down Oregon (2-6) in a 5-0 sweep.

Washington scored the first dual point with a three-set win at the No. 2 position. The Trojans got even with a three-set win by the four pair. There, junior Olivia Bakos and freshman Bailey Showalter completed a comeback with a 5-0 run to take down Paloma Bowman and Mary Sinclair, 15-21, 21-19, 15-10. Showalter collected 24 kills and six blocks in the win, which included two stops in the 5-0 run.

The Trojans' freshman duo of Delaney Karl and Gabby Walker pushed USC ahead with a 21-10, 23-21 win over Scarlett Dahl and Hannah Yerex at the No. 5 spot. At the top spot, juniors Megan Kraft and Delaynie Maple won their fifth straight match with a 21-18, 21-16 victory over the AVCA's National Pair of the Week Chloe Loreen and Natalie Robinson. The win secured the dual for the Trojans.

USC added its fourth point from the third court as twin seniors Audrey Nourse and Nicole Nourse collected a 17-21, 21-18, 16-14 win over Teagan DeFalco and Shannon Gormally. The Nourses trailed, 14-11, but erased three match points to turn the tables and take the win and move into fourth all-time at USC for wins by a pair. Their record together now stands at 65-12 overall.

Up next, the Trojans meet No. 1-ranked crosstown rival UCLA (9-0) at 3 p.m. PT on Merle Norman Sand. The dual will be shown live on the Pac-12 Networks.
