Trojans to be in full force tomorrow with over 50 athletes competing
Nikolaos Polychroniou took second and Christian Johnson fifth in the men's hammer throw and Summer Mosley third in the women's hammer throw at the 44th Annual Aztec Invitational in San Diego, Calif. today (March 24). The hammer throw competition was contested on the UC San Diego campus today, but the remainder of the meet with be on the San Diego State campus.
- The sophomore Polychroniou took second in the men's hammer throw with a 16-K personal best of 224-7 (68.46m), just outside of USC's all-time top 10 list in the event. The redshirt junior Johnson placed fifth with a mark of 216-0 (65.85m). Freshman Matteo Mitchell began his USC career with a best throw of 170-5 (51.96m).
- The junior Mosley took third in the women's hammer throw with a PR of 193-7 (59.00m). Her previous PR of 193-5 was set at the CSUN Invitational on April 1, 2022. The throw was more than 18 feet farther than her opening meet last season.
