March 17, 2023 | Women's Beach Volleyball
The Trojans had a 46-dual win streak halted by the Horned Frogs
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – The second-ranked USC beach volleyball team (10-1) had a 46-dual win streak ended by No. 1-ranked TCU (13-0) in a 4-1 final to open the Surf & Turf Invitational on South Beach sand on Friday, March 17.
The Trojans' streak of 46 wins dated to March 5, 2021 and comes to an end as the second-longest in program history. USC also had the second-longest streak of road and neutral victories in school history snapped at 30 (March 12-May 8, 2022).
USC goes to 5-1 in six all-time meetings with the Horned Frogs as TCU becomes only the 11th team ever to defeat the Women of Troy. The Trojans also move to 16-2 all-time in the state of Florida and had a 14-dual win streak in the Sunshine State stopped.

Without two-time All-American Megan Kraft available due to her commitment to play in the FIVB Challenger Event in La Paz, Mexico, the Trojans employed a re-tooled lineup to face the Horned Frogs. TCU scored the first point of the dual with a win at the No. 2 spot as Sutton MacTavish and Ana Vergara took a 21-17, 21-16 win over twin seniors Audrey Nourse and Nicole Nourse, which snapped a seven-match win streak held by the Trojan duo.
TCU went on top, 2-0, with a win by the Frogs' four pair of Anhelina Khmil and Kate Privett as they defeated junior Olivia Bakos and freshman Bailey Showalter, 21-16, 21-19. USC claimed its dual point as its newly-formed pair of junior Delaynie Maple and freshman Gabby Walker took down Maria Gonzalez and Hailey Hamlett, 21-14, 21-17, at the No. 3 position.
Moments later, TCU secured the third point of the dual from the top spot as Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno completed a 21-11, 21-11 over graduate Madison Shields and freshman Madison White to snap the Trojans' four-match win streak. With the dual decided, the Horned Frogs added a fourth point from the No. 5 pairs where Hailey Brockett and Rochelle Scott got a three-set 18-21, 21-16, 15-10 win over freshman Delaney Karl and graduate Ashlyn Rasnick-Pope.
USC is back in action at 4:30 p.m. ET (1:30 p.m. PT) against 15th-ranked Florida Atlantic (7-5). On Saturday (March 18), the Trojans will take on 14th-ranked Florida International and North Florida to conclude the invitational.
