In Memoriam: Carol Dougherty, Former USC Senior Associate Athletic Director

USC women’s teams won seven NCAA titles while Dougherty served as senior woman administrator.
Carol Dougherty, who served 11 years as an administrator in USC Athletics, died on June 25, 2022 in Newport Beach, Calf., after battling advanced Alzheimer's disease. She was 82.
Dougherty served as senior associate athletic director at USC from 2002-2011, holding the position of senior woman administrator (SWA) for six years. During that time, she was the project director for the Galen Center, coordinating and supervising the planning, design and construction of the state-of-the-art athletics, entertainment and community events venue that became home for USC's basketball and volleyball programs in 2006.
Dougherty joined USC Athletics in 2000 as associate athletic director. In her 11 years with the department, she oversaw corporate sales and marketing operations in addition to oversight of women's basketball, women's volleyball, women's tennis, women's cross country and men's and women's track and field. In her tenure as SWA, USC women's teams won seven NCAA Championships.
Dougherty began her USC career in 1974, and she would serve as senior associate dean of the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences from 1980 until joining USC Athletics. Also active in numerous campus service organizations, she was involved with USC's hosting of the 2015 Special Olympics World Games. After leaving athletics, Dougherty continued to serve at USC as a special assistant to Todd Dickey, working on various projects in the Senior Vice President for Administration's Office. She retired from USC in April 2018.
Prior to USC, she was finance director at Stanford Hospital from 1969 to 1974.
Her husband, Dennis, who passed in 2013, served as USC's senior vice president for finance and chief financial officer from 1990 to 2008.
Dougherty is survived by her sister Sally Henyey, daughter Laura Blair, grandchildren Erin and Logan Blair and her cat Callie.
