Mixon in the 110m H & Polychroniou in the hammer throw advance to event finals
Johnny Brackins Jr. placed sixth in the men's long jump and Malik Mixon and Nikolaos Polychroniou advanced to event finals at the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships held in Cali, Colombia. today (Aug. 2). The World Athletics U20 Championships run through Aug. 6.
- Brackins Jr. placed sixth in the men's long jump final with a best leap of 25-7.50/7.81m (+0.6). Brackins Jr. reached the final by jumping 25-2.75/7.69m (+0.6) in the prelims on Monday.
- Mixon ran a personal best of 13.52 (+0.3) to take second in his semifinal heat to automatically advance to tomorrow's final. His time was third among the qualifiers for the final. Mixon had a time of 14.10 to place third in his preliminary heat on Aug. 1 to automatically advance to the semifinals.
- Polychroniou advanced out of the men's hammer throw (6kg) qualifying with a best mark of 240-0 (73.16m). His throw was ninth among the qualifiers and he will compete in the final on Aug. 4.
