Brianna Navarrosa, Amari Avery Advance to 2022 U.S. Women’s Amateur Round of 32

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – USC junior Brianna Navarrosa and sophomore Amari Avery both emerged victorious during the first round of head-to-head matches on Wednesday, Aug. 10 at the 2022 U.S. Women's Amateur at Chambers Bay.

Navarrosa will compete against 2021 NCAA Individual Champion Rachel Heck in the Round of 32, tomorrow at 7:50 a.m. PT. Avery will tee-off at 9:20 a.m. PT going face to face against Megan Yang.

Junior Navarrosa only led once during the match (at 1up after winning first hole), but also never trailed by more than 1. The match was won on 20 with a par, as Navarrosa defeated Jaclyn LaHa.

Avery, went back and forth with Borovilos before managing a lead on the par-4 No. 16, holding on to that advantage through the final hole.
