Benjamin, Gaither & Terry advance to semifinals tomorrow
Aaron Brown placed eighth in the men's 100m final and Rai Benjamin in the men's 400m hurdles and Tynia Gaither and TeeTee Terry in the women's 100m dash advanced to event semifinals during the second day of the 2022 World Athletics Championships held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. today (July 16).

- Aaron Brown (USC, 2014) placed eighth in the men's 100m dash final with a time of 10.07 (-0.1). Brown reached the final by placing third in his semifinal heat earlier in the day with a time of 10.06 (-0.1) which matched his season best. Andre De Grasse (USC, 2015) placed fifth in the second men's 100m semifinal with a time of 10.21 (+0.1) to finish 20th overall. De Grasse had his streak snapped of earning a medal in seven consecutive individual events at the Olympics or Worlds dating back to 2015.
- Rai Benjamin (USC, 2019) won his men's 400m hurdles heat with a time of 49.06 to automatically advance to the event semifinal tomorrow. His time was second-fastest among the qualifiers to the semifinal.
- TeeTee Terry (USC, 2021) took second in the fourth women's 100m heat with a time of 10.95 (+0.8) to automatically advance to the semifinal tomorrow. Tynia Gaither (USC, 2016) placed fourth in the second women's 100m dash heat with a time of 11.16 (-0.2)and ended up with the fastest non-automatic qualifying time to also advance. Terry advanced fourth and Gaither 18th on time to the semifinals.
