USC Beach Volleyball Collects Pac-12 Pair, Player, and Coach of the Year Awards

Tina Graudina was named the Pac-12’s Player of the Year and part of the Pair of the Year for the third time in her career
SAN FRANCISCO – USC beach volleyball All-Americans Tina Graudina (Jurmala, Latvia) and Hailey Harward (Phoenix, Ariz./Desert Vista HS) were announced as the 2022 Pac-12 Pair of the Year by the Conference on Tuesday, May 17. Graudina was chosen as the league's Player of the Year and third-year head coach Dain Blanton was named the Pac-12 Coach of the Year to highlight the Trojans' Pac-12 postseason awards haul.

Graudina and Harward headline USC's six selections to the Pac-12 All-Conference teams. The duo—which was named the AVCA's Collegiate Beach National Pair of the Year last week—was chosen to the first team along with All-Americans Sammy Slater (Ventura, Calif./Ventura HS), Julia Scoles (Mooresville, N.C./South Iredell HS), and Megan Kraft (San Diego, Calif./Torrey Pines HS). Delaynie Maple (San Diego, Calif./Torrey Pines HS) was named to the All-Pac-12 second team.

Graudina has now been half of the Pac-12's Pair of the Year three times (2019 with Abril Bustamante; 2021 with Kraft) and becomes the first three-time winner of the league's Player of the Year honor (2019, '21, '22). USC duos have won the Pac-12 Pair of the Year award five times out of six and a Trojan has earned the Pac-12 Player of the Year award five times (Kelly Claes, 2016-17).

Additionally, Graudina becomes the first four-time All-Pac-12 first-team selection in program history. Slater earned second-team laurels as a freshman in 2018 and is now also a four-time All-Pac-12 choice. Scoles and Kraft both become two-time first-team selections. Harward earned second-team honors in 2021. Maple makes her first appearance on an All-Pac-12 team.

At the top, Graudina-Harward went 31-1 overall and ended the season on a 30-match win streak; the second longest by a pair in program history. USC's No. 2 pair of Kraft-Slater was 26-2 on the season and opened with a 26-match win streak of its own. Maple-Scoles had a 28-match win streak going to begin the season and finished with a 36-1 overall record to top all Trojans pairs this season. All three pairs received AVCA Top Flight notice.

15 different Trojans have now garnered All-Pac-12 notice with 32 all-time certificates (22 first team, 10 second team) since the league's sponsorship of beach volleyball began in 2016.

Blanton's choice as the Pac-12 Coach of the Year is USC's first since Anna Collier was tabbed for the honor in 2019. Blanton led the Trojans to their fourth NCAA Championship and fourth Pac-12 crowns this season. His Trojans finished the year ranked No. 1 and had a record of 37-1 with a 36-match win streak intact at the end. He is now 73-10 at the helm for the Women of Troy.Â
