No. 3 USC Beach Volleyball Hangs 5-0 Sweep on Huskies

The Trojans’ pair of Delaynie Maple and Julia Scoles pushed their winning streak to 16 consecutive matches
TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 3-ranked USC beach volleyball team (15-1) walloped Washington (4-8) for a 5-0 sweep without dropping a set to conclude the Trojans' three matches at the Pac-12 South Invitational on Bear Down Beach, Sunday, March 27.

The Trojans' 14-dual winning streak now stands alone as the program's fourth-longest winning streak as the Women of Troy improve to 28-1 all-time in the state of Arizona (14-1 in Tucson) and to 7-0 all-time against the Huskies.

USC scored the first point of the dual with a win from the No. 5 position where Audrey Nourse and Nicole Nourse collected their 45th win as a pair, 21-12, 21-7, over Olivia Mikkelsen and Ashley Shook to improve to 9-1 on the season.

At court two, Delaynie Maple and Julia Scoles racked up their 16th straight win to remain undefeated (16-0) by beating Scarlett Dahl and Kyra Petersen, 21-12, 21-11. The USC duo's streak is one win away from matching the sixth-longest streak held by four different Trojan pairs. Maple-Scoles' win also gives the tandem their 43rd consecutive set victory.Â

Hailey Harward and Megan Kraft locked up the clinching point from the top court with their 21-14, 21-14 win over Chloe Loreen and Natalie Robinson. Harward-Kraft moves to 8-1 all-time (3-0 this season).

The fourth point came from the No. 3 position when Caroline Schafer and Sammy Slater delivered a 21-9, 21-17 decision over Maeve Griffin and Audra Wilmes. Slater improves to 101-28 in her career and is now 12-0 this season.

Mollie Ebertin and Sunny Villapando put the final point on the board for the sweep with a 21-15, 21-13 win over Emma Calle and Hannah Yerex at court four. Ebertin-Villapando won its ninth straight match and improves to 11-1 on the season.

USC finishes the Pac-12 South Invitational with a 3-0 mark and now sets its sights on the UCLA Invitational set for next weekend (April 2-3) at the Manhattan Beach Pier in Manhattan Beach, Calif. The Trojans will take on LSU and Hawai'i in duals on Saturday and then meet TCU and Florida International on Sunday.
