July 02, 2021 | USC Athletics
For the sixth consecutive year, USC finished in the Top 6 of the Division I Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup standings.
USC was sixth in the 2020-21 standings, with 1,052 points.
The Directors' Cup recognizes the top athletic programs in the nation, with points awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
USC scored in 16 of the 19 sports that are used to determine the final standings. The Trojans tallied 100 points each from its NCAA championship-winning women's beach volleyball, water polo and track and field teams. USC also got significant points from 5 other teams that finished in the Top 10 at NCAA competition: men's water polo (second), women's indoor track and field (fourth), men's track and field (fifth tie), men's tennis (fifth tie) and women's tennis (9th tie).
Texas won the 2020-21 Directors' Cup with 1,252 points, just the second time in the competition's 28-year history that Stanford did not win it. The Cardinal finished second this year (1,195.75), followed by Michigan (1,126.50), North Carolina (1,126.25) and Florida (1,121.75).
In the last Director's Cup in 2018-19, USC was fifth. Last year's competition was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
