The Women of Troy collected their 10th clean 5-0 sweep of the spring with a win over the Golden Bears
PHOENIX – The No. 2-ranked USC beach volleyball team (15-2) defeated No. 11 California (9-6) in a clean 5-0 sweep at GCU Beach Volleyball Stadium in the Trojans' first dual at the Pac-12 North Invitational on Saturday, April 10.
The Women of Troy scored the first point with a win at the No. 4 position where graduate Joy Dennis and freshman Delaynie Maple took down Kate Bierly and Maya Gessner, 21-10, 21-10.
One court over, sophomore twins Audrey Nourse and Nicole Nourse gave no quarter in a 21-13, 21-10 win over Brooke Buchner and Ava Mann for the second USC dual point. The sisters collected their 26th all-time win to move into 17th all-time by Trojan pairs and made it their 25th straight match victory, which matches the third longest stream by a USC duo (Kelly Claes/Sara Hughes, 2017).
The clinching point came from court two where All-American junior Tina Graudina and freshman Megan Kraft earned a 21-9, 21-13 win over Jordan Polo and Ainsley Radell. The fourth point was earned at the No. 3 position when senior Haley Hallgren and graduate Hailey Harward teamed to defeat Alexia Inman and Grace Paulson, 21-18, 21-13.
USC completed the 5-0 sweep when the top court of graduate Julia Scoles and senior Sammy Slater defeated Mima Mirkovic and Caroline Schafer, 21-17, 21-12.
The Trojans will meet Washington (1-3) in their second dual at the Pac-12 North Invitational at 12:45 p.m. PT.
