USC Cross Country Set For Pac-12 Championships in Utah
October 27, 2021 | Women's Cross Country
The young Trojan squad will feature five freshmen in Friday's meet
The USC women's cross country team will be competing at the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships (6K) to be held at the Regional Athletics Complex in Salt Lake City, Utah on Friday, Oct. 29. The race will be at 10 a.m. PT and will air live on the Pac-12 Network. The Pac-12 is one of the stronger conferences for cross country, led by No. 4 Colorado and No. 8 Utah.
Trojans who are scheduled to compete this weekend are seniors Alyssa Brewer and Jemima Russell, junior Mihajla Milovanovic and freshmen Isabelle Cairns, Maya Lacamp, Gigi Maccagnini, Â Giovanna Pisano and Ritika Singh.
Among USC's eight scheduled competitors are five freshman and one junior transfer. The only Trojans to have competed at the Pac-12 Championships before are the seniors Brewer and Russell. That pair has run more 6K races (11) than the rest of the traveling team combined (8), including Cairns who will be running her first career 6K race.
USC opened the season by placing third at the Mark Covert Classic (5K) in Brea, Calif. on Sept. 4.  The third-place finish was USC's best since winning the 2016 Pepperdine Invitational. The Trojans then placed seventh at the UC Riverside Invitational (6K) on Sept. 18 and 12th at the Highlander Invitational (6K) on Oct. 16.Â
