USC's Kedon Slovis Named To Manning Award Watch List
July 30, 2020 | Football
Sophomore quarterback Kedon Slovis has been named to the Watch List for the 2020 Manning Award, given to the nation's top quarterback and sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
Earlier this month, he was named to the Maxwell Award Watch List for the nation's top player and the Davey O'Brien Award Watch List for the nation's top quarterback.
Slovis was the 2019 Pac-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year and a Freshman All-American first teamer. Last fall, he completed a Pac-12 record and NCAA freshman record 71.9% of his passes for a USC frosh record 3,502 yards with 30 TDs and just 9 interceptions. He ranked in the national Top 20 in completion percentage, passing yards, completions, passing efficiency, passing TDs and total offense.
He is the nation's most accurate returning passer. His 167.6 passing efficiency mark in 2019 was a school record, while his 282 completions and 3,445 yards of total offense were Trojan freshman standards. His 4 games with 400-plus passing yards—including a USC record 515 versus UCLA—set a USC season record and ties the school career mark. He completed at least 67% of his passes in all but 1 of the 12 games he played last fall.
USC's Matt Leinart was the inaugural winner of the Manning Award in 2004.
