Honor follows on heels of All-West Region selection.
Yuxin Lin, a week after being named to the 2020 PING All-West Region team, topped his freshman-season resume by being selected to the PING All-American third team, the GCAA announced today.
Â
"Yuxin had a solid year for us," said USC Men's Golf Head Coach Chris Zambri, whose Trojan golfers have now totaled 26 All-American honors since his first season in 2007. Â "I have no doubt that he would have continued his stellar play through late May if given the opportunity. I am super excited to have him back for his sophomore year to see how great he can be."
Lin co-led USC in stroke average (70.67) and posted four top 15 finishes. He was second on the team in rounds in the 60s (seven) and wrapped his freshman season at Troy with a career-best tie for first while leading Troy to its first season win.
Â
Recently named to the 2020 Arnold Cup International team, Lin tied for first in USC's final tournament of the season at the Southern Highlands Collegiate at 8-under 208 (67-67-75) before falling in the playoff. He was among USC's top two finishers in all five of his starts.
In the fall, Lin overcame a two-shot deficit in regulation and then won a two-hole playoff to capture the 2019 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championships at the Sheshan International Golf Club in Shanghai, China, on Sept. 19.
Â
Lin became just the second two-time winner of the event while earning berths into the 2020 Masters and Open Championships.
