USC Qualifies 8 Women And Relay Plus 4 Men For 2020 NCAA Indoor Championships

Eight USC women and the Women of Troy's 4x400 meter relay team and four Trojan men have qualified for the 2020 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships that will be held March 13-14 in Albuquerque, N.M.
Junior TeeTee Terry, whose 7.17 qualifying time is tied for the third fastest, will defend her NCAA Indoor title in the 60 meters after winning last week's Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Championships race. Also in the 60 meters is sophomore Lanae-Tava Thomas (7.20, tied for ninth best), who will double in the 200 meters (23.09, 10th fastest). Soph Bailey Lear, whose national-best qualifying time of 51.60 set meet and track records when she won the 400 meters at last week's MPSF Indoor meet, is one of three Women of Troy in the 400 meters, along with junior Kaelin Roberts (52.06, tied for third fastest), the defending champion in the event, and senior Kyra Constantine (52.14, seventh best). Alyssa Brewer (2:05.68, 14th fastest) made it in the 800 meters. Seniors Anna Cockrell, the 2020 MPSF Indoor champ, and Mecca McGlaston both qualified in the 60 meter hurdles with marks of 8.01, tied for fifth fastest. The USC women's 4x400 meter relay quartet, which captured last week's MPSF Indoor race, enters with the third best time (3:29.92).
For the men, sophomore Brendon Stewart is in the 60 meters with a qualifying time of 6.58 (tied for fourth best) and senior Isaiah Jewett brings the nation's top time (1:46.82) in the 800 meters. A pair of 2020 MPSF Indoor champions, junior Earnest Sears III in the high jump (7-6.50/2.30m, second highest) and senior Nathan Bultman in the weight throw (73-7.50/22.44m, seventh best), also have qualified for the NCAA Indoors.
Last year, the Women of Troy finished in second place, with 51 points (11 behind champion Arkansas), while the men were 17th with 12 points.
ESPN3 will stream the championships live starting at 4:15 p.m. PT on March 13 and at 3 p.m. PT on March 14. A re-air of the championship will take place starting at 6 p.m. PT on March 16 on ESPNU.
